Slow Food Ireland Hosts a Market of Slow Foods

This Sunday May 26 at Baltimore Harbour West Cork, Slow Food Ireland hosts its Market of Slow Foods plus a Slow Feast.

Following on from last year’s event, the people of Baltimore and the organisers of A Taste of Baltimore have generously invited us to join them to celebrate the sea traditions of this wonderful harbour.

The Slow Feast and Market will be open from 12 o’clock on Sunday 26 down at the slip marquee.

The Slow foods will be displayed and sold on Sunday as a buffet lunch byClodagh McKenna, who will be using organic chicken, smoked fish from 3 ofour greatest salmon smokehouses, Irish farmhouse cheeses, frittatas bakedthat morning, glazed bacon, local sausages, organic salads, olives anddishes designed to use the Irish Slowfoods, Ballymaloe ice-creams, freshjuices, and organic wine from Mary Pawle wines – we hope also to beintroducing new foods and producers to the growing list of Irish artisanfoods!

Clodagh is printing out recipes of her dishes for anyone who would liketo work with these foods again – the Producers will mostly be sellingoutside in the Farmer’s Market stalls, so contact with all the Slow foodproducers will give a you a chance to hear how the foods are made and meetthe makers.

There will be music from The Cheesemaker

The Baltimore Festival will feature a wonderful display of antique and traditonal boatsin the harbour, plus boat trips for children, Punchand Judy, dancers from the West Cork School of traditional music, jugglers, clowns and (on the Saturday) a recital of sea shanties!
