Open Call Closing: The Food System Vision Prize

With more than 700 inspiring project ideas and visions for a Regenerative and Nourishing 2050 system, The Food System Vision Prize is nearing its closing deadline.

The overwhelming response shows us the commitment and passion of people around the world who are already working to build a better food system.

But there is still time to apply and provide your vision for a good, clean, fair system that supports biodiversity, agroecological efforts, and food sovereignty among other key components of a food system fit for the challenges of our modern world.

“They Are Giants, But We Are Millions,” was one of the of slogans of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, and the outpouring of ideas is great news for Slow Food and the world. We know that it takes uniting our forces and our visions to win the fight and create real change.

The Rockefeller Foundation, in partnership with SecondMuse and OpenIDEO, launched the Food System Vision Prize: an invitation to develop a Vision of the regenerative and nourishing food system that we aspire to create by the year 2050.

Up to 10 selected Visionaries will be awarded a Prize of $200,000 US Dollars.

Slow Food is among the key partners supporting the Prize. Slow Food contributes to the Prize by helping to broaden its objectives in order to enhance aspects that are close to the Slow Food philosophy, such as small-scale agriculture that respects the environment and the importance of supporting communities.

The aim of the prize is to empower communities globally to develop a vision of what their food system can look like in the year 2050 if we make the right choices environmentally, technologically, culturally, politically, socially, etc. Applicants to the prize are asked to develop actionable plans for the future and illustrate how they will become protagonists in their own food future. Creating a compelling and progressive Vision for the future of our food system requires a culture of collaboration that rallies industry, policy, academia, and society to act as one. When we come together, we can deliver sustainable, nourishing diets for people and the planet by 2050.

This is the last stretch to send out your Visions!
