The Inventory of origin-linked Georgian food products has been developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) within the framework of its collaborative agreement with the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

This Inventory consists of information sheets providing basic data and information on origin-linked food and agricultural products from Georgia’s regions and geographical spots. The information sheets are the result of desk and field research – including producers and experts interviews – carried out by FAO in collaboration with Slow Food International and the Georgian Biological Farming Association Elkana.

Data collection and analysis were carried out following a methodology and related questionnaires developed by FAO in 2012 and titled “Identification of origin-linked products and their potential for development. A methodology for participatory inventories”. The objective of this methodology is to identifying products of origin-linked quality to be used as levers for sustainable rural development. A total of 19 origin-linked products which are included in this Inventory, are also already registered as GIs in Georgia and are therefore protected as Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).
